Finding Purpose.

If you are just now finding lashes-to-lunges or just tuning in, let me get you caught up. Each week, I  do a weekly “challenge” that gets me out of my comfort zone. Whether its a workout class, a challenge that tests my confidence or trying something I never have before, I try to get it completed and learn from it. This past week was one of new habits. I was to write out affirmation cards and read everyday, 3 times a day for one week.

mark twain quoteThe affirmation cards are things I wrote down to “speak” into my life. Positive things I want to happen, I want to be like, I want my relationships, my finances to reflect. I put them on an index card and read them morning, evening and before bed. It was really inspiring. I found myself in situations where I was just feeling irritated or negative and instead of dwelling on things or letting it affect my mood, I reached for the cards. Man, they brought me back to reality and what’s really important. I think people easily forget “the big picture.” Their dreams, their future, their purpose.

If you are reading this, I want you to place your hand on your heart. Waiting for you to do it…. Do you feel that?! That thumping in your chest? That’s purpose. We are here for something! And it isn’t to dwell on the little distractions of life. The person at work who made you angry, the messiness of your house, the weather, the unfortunate circumstance you may find yourself in. No, God created us for a purpose!

Each time I’d read these cards they would snap me back to what I wanted in life. Not where I was. We should always be growing and changing. Figuring out the purpose and plan that God has for us. I am a work in progress and always will be. God is molding me into the woman he designed me to be, I just have to let go of the reins and allow Him to do that.

It’s funny how people stop reading books after high school, stop learning new things, stop building their character. Just kind of drift through life, never really stepping out and trying to improve their mind or their situation. At what age do we stop learning and growing? 18? 25? 50? I say, never. I think its very important to have your dreams in front of you. To write them down. To set a goal. To know what you are working towards. And then prepare for your dreams like they are a planned event. Like they are already here. To speak it, like its already happening.

Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Does that sound like God wants you to just stay in your comfort zone? Going to work, coming home, caring for the kids, doing the chores, watching tv, going to bed and then do it tomorrow all over again? No way! God has plans to prosper us, to give us hope and a future! We are created to do great things, much more than sitting in our homes watching “our shows.” We are His hands and feet and he has soooo much more in store for our lives than we can even wrap our heads around.

I encourage you to start praying and asking God to reveal these things to you, pick up a positive book, start reading, write out your dreams and goals, make your own affirmation cards, start speaking life!

I will be posting my challenge for this week tomorrow or Wednesday. Still debating on which thing I am going to do! Check out my fitness page this week as I will be adding a new workout challenge and hope you will join me!

Your post came at just the right time. I got some not so good news yesterday. I immediately flipped to my affirmations (which I wrote in a notebook at work after reading your last post) and prayed. It is so hard to “let go of the reins” but I’m trying. I love that you included Jer. 29:11. It’s posted on my workstation as well!

Just said a prayer for you! Glad it could help. Its crazy how if we keep God at the center of our relationships, jobs, dreams, finances, etc then everything else will fall into place. While its not easy by any means, trusting in Him definitely has its benefits! Keep speaking those positive things into your situation! Love you!
